Wiggins, MS – February 20, 2025 – Goodwill Industries celebrated the grand opening of its 12th location across South Mississippi on Thursday, bringing its signature affordable shopping and community-driven mission to Wiggins. The new store, located in the heart of the city, welcomed eager shoppers with a special giveaway—50 swag bags for the first 50 customers through the door.
The expansion into Wiggins reflects Goodwill’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities by providing affordable goods and workforce development programs. Vicki Burton, CEO of Goodwill Industries of South Mississippi, emphasized the organization’s dedication to the area.
“We want to invest in Wiggins, but Wiggins also invested in us,” said Burton. “This is about giving back to a community that has embraced us and opened their arms to welcome us in, and we want to be here and be a part of what’s going on here.”
With rising prices pushing shoppers to explore alternative shopping methods, Goodwill offers an affordable solution while reinvesting in the local economy. Burton highlighted the broader impact of shopping at Goodwill beyond just great deals.
“Everything you do here goes back into the community, back into giving people a hand up and not a handout,” Burton said. “So, on top of the fact you’re getting some really good deals, that money is going back into your community to train people for jobs. We’re as excited to be here as they are to get to shop.”
